The IB Nook — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 September 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how The IB Nook (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you visit www.theibnook.com and when you buy or access our digital products and services delivered through our ecommerce platform provider (Podia). We are the data controller for your personal data. Podia and other service providers act as our processors.

If you have questions, contact us at info@theibnook.com.

Not legal advice. This policy is provided for convenience. Please adapt the placeholders (legal name & address, providers you actually use) and seek legal review if needed.

1) What we collect

We collect information in three ways:

A. You provide it to us

  • Account & purchase details: name, email, billing country/region, product purchased.

  • Communications: emails or messages you send us.

  • Learning use: diagnostic responses, self-assessments, lesson/trackers you complete or upload (if applicable).

B. Automatically via our site/platform

  • Device & usage data: IP address, device/browser type, pages viewed, referring URLs, time on page, and general usage events (collected by Podia and/or analytics tools we enable).

  • Cookies and similar technologies (see “Cookies” below).

C. From service providers

  • Payment status and identifiers from our payment processor (Stripe). We do not receive or store your full card details.

2) How we use your information (lawful bases)

  • Provide and support the services: account setup, course/toolkit access, payments, customer support. (Contract)

  • Improve content and features: analytics to understand what’s useful. (Legitimate interests)

  • Communicate with you: transactional emails (receipts, access links), product updates, important notices. (Contract / Legitimate interests)

  • Optional marketing: newsletters or offers, only if you opt in. You can unsubscribe any time. (Consent)

  • Safety, fraud prevention, and legal compliance. (Legal obligation / Legitimate interests)

3) Sharing your information

We share personal data with:

  • Podia (site and course/digital delivery platform).

  • Stripe (payment processing).

  • Our email service provider (to send transactional and opted-in emails).

  • Analytics provider (if enabled) for aggregated usage insights.

  • Professional service providers (IT/support) under confidentiality agreements.

  • Authorities where required by law, and in the context of a business transfer.

We do not sell your personal information.

4) International transfers

Our platform and providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses with our processors (e.g., Podia/Stripe).

5) Retention

We keep your data only as long as needed to provide services, comply with tax/accounting laws, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. For example, order records may be retained for up to 6–7 years under local tax rules. You can ask us to delete non-essential learning/diagnostic data at any time (see “Your rights”).

6) Your rights (EEA/UK and similar regimes)

You may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, and data portability. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
To exercise rights, email info@theibnook.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

7) Children

The IB Nook is designed for IB students (typically 16+). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
